formatting date as dd/mm/yyyy for use in a between filter

I have a date colum which i need formatted as dd/mm/yyyy. I can use

FORMAT('Award Date'[Date],"DD/MMM/YYYY") to format it correctly, but its now text.

I need it in date format so i can use it in a between filter, but if i cange the type to date, one of the default formats and my DD/MMM/YYYY format is lost.

Is this even possible in PowerBI?

Hi @wilson_smyth ,

We can change the date type here.

@v-frfei-msft  Thanks, i tried that but it does not have the specific format of dd/mm/yyyy. e.g. 31/12/2018

I can get the specific format i need using the format() function, but the datatype of the column then changes to text, which means date functionality does not work.
