extra column in data source

I use a folder as data source. In the folder are multiple .csv files (a file a day).

I recently added a column to the source, so the old files have 50 columns, the new files have 51 columns.

When I refresh the data, the extra column is not available in PowerBI.

How do I solve this?

Thanks a lot.

Hi @ronny_wdk

You can add the Column name manually in the step where you expand the columns.

Have you refreshed the 'preview' in Query Editor?

Please accept solution if this works for you.

Thanks

I refreshed the preview, but the extra column is still not visible.

(additional: the extra column is only in the new files, not in the old files).

Are you able to share the .PBIX file?

I'll be happy to have a look at it for you

the file is 67 MB and contains private data.

I can send you in pm?

Ronny

Hi @ronny_wdk ,

First of all, we suggest you to delete your email address and do not share your file if it contain any confidential information or real data.

If your csv files are comine by the gui, we can use the following steps to expand the new column:

5.jpg

1. Change the Sample File name to the new one

6.jpg7.jpg

2. change the column number of "Transform sample File" query

3. Refresh all queries9.jpg

Please help - I am having the same issue. I followed the steps you suggested and my new columns appear but several of the rows do not load correctly. It appears that data from several columns is being combined and shifted  into the first column. For example, the  Project Status column should all contain "Active".

Thanks in advance!

Hi @leigh_yh ,

It looks like the Line 22 and 24 does not convert into tables correctly, could you please verify if these rows have correct format in the data source? Could you please describe the approximate action steps?
