default summarization

I tried to set default summarization on a particular column and it won't take.   I can do it on other columns but there are 2 that I want that it says its set to count, but the sum symbol doesn't show on the column name , and it doesn't give a count.

Can you share some snapshots? We can't set the aggregation on the axis field.

Someone replied with the answer, the problem is its a text field and not numeric..  I thought only summing required numeric fields, and that i could count the unique values in a text field.
