custom URL - query string parameter as column rather than mesure

Hi,

New to power bi.

We have slicer on <table>/<col> and when select values in slicer variable below works when defined as a measure.

However, if define as a column doesn't work just shows all values in the string rather than values selected in the slicer.

variable definition below.

PRODUCT LIST  =
var rptfilter = "<table>/<col> in ('" & CONCATENATEX(VALUES(<table>[col]),<table>[col] ,"','")&"'"& ")"
return
rptfilter

Is it possible to build up dynamic query string using column rather than measure i.e. New/column rather than New/measure ?  Defining this in report which has table where can just add coumns as required.

Looking to have this as column rather than measure if possible and use further down line as hperlink in power kpi matrix custom visual.

Thanks

Hi @po,

Did you mean you want to make the calculated column respond to the actions of the slicer? If so, I'm afraid we can't do that for now. To make it simple, we can consider the calculated column as a normal column after its creation.

What's your goal? Please also share a sample. Maybe we can find a workaround.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.  Not yet got sample as just looking into possibilties with power bi to best achieve goal below.

Goal is to have a balanced hierarchical kpi scorecard whereby we show performance for each of our products at lowest level but hierarchical kpi at aggregated level for the category to which the product belongs and total and to then be able to drill into another report which shows further details about the product hence the slicer.

e.g Apple %age sales

      Pear   %age sales

     ....

 Fruit   %age sales

      Coffe %age sales

      Tea    %age sales

      ...       %age sales

Drinks     %age sales

Total       %age sales ( all categories)

Had been looking to use the power kpi matrix custom visual for showing a balanced scorecard with slicer option at side which would then call another bi report using the selected options slicer to show further details. On looking at sample report provided with the power kpi custom matrix visual, it would seem that totals and sub-totals not available with this for direct calculation in way the default power bi matrix does.

Cold potentially work around the calculated column option by store the links in table directly but looks like the power bi kpi matrxi custom visual not designed for hirerarchies reporting.

Interested in your thoughts as to best way to achieve above with power bi.

Thanks

Hi @po,

There is a wonderful feature that is desktop-drillthrough. But it doesn't seem to work with Power KPI matrix. You can take into account this feature.
