combine historical table and current table for trends

Hi all, I have 2 tables - one with historical data that captures the entirety of the data each month, and another with the latest data. How would I combine these 2 tables to create a table that I could do trends by month for?

Historical table

CustomerProduct PurchasedRevenueDate of Data
ACloud105/1/20
ACloud Premium505/1/20
ADC505/1/20

Current Table

CustomerProduct PurchasedRevenueDate of Data
ACloud206/1/20
ACloud Premium606/1/20
ADC606/1/20

@Anonymous you can use append in power query to combine these tables. The append option is in the Power Query menu.

Hi @Anonymous ,

We find that your table has the same column name, so we can connect the folder’s link and append the table records to meet your requirement.

1. Prepare a folder, and put the historical data file in it.

2. Then we connect this folder using Power BI Desktop.

3. Select Combine & Transform Data.

4. We need to remove the first column in Power Query Editor.

5. At last we can add the latest data file to this folder, and select the Refresh.

Besides Appending queries in power query, you can also consider using UNION in DAX.

@Anonymous yes it can be surely achieved with UNION but for UNION, you need to make sure the columns of both the tables in the same order, also I would recommend it is good if you bring your most of the transformation in Power Query engine.
