cities from Excel sheet placed in wrong country in map visualization

I am sure this is simple to solve ... if you know how to do it. I am thankful for all the help  I can get.

I have a simple Excel sheet woth two columns: A (number), B (number), and C (text). In A and B, I write number of items shipped, in C I write city. All cities are supposed to be located in the same country (Sweden ). This works in nearly all instances, but in some, the city gets misplaced in the map visualization. How can I set up my Excel sheet or my PBI report to avoid this?

I have mainly worked in Power BI online, but have the desktop app installed as well.

(Column A is visualized in one map, B in another)

Hi @martenm,

If possible, you could insert postcode to identify the locations which is more accurate than city name.

Hey,

here you can download a great whitepaper about using maps in Power BI:
https://www.blue-granite.com/maps-power-bi-whitepaper

Maybe you have to mark your city as data category "City" and also add a country code to the city like so
for the city Cairo in Egypt create a calculated country that contains the value: Cairo Egypt

Hopefully this will help

Regards
Tom
