i have 2 charts and the first one works fine without any changes to axis hierarcy. by default it puts "may 2019" ect for each month + year.
my 2nd chart i did reimport data where the date field might have thought it was different. i don't know.
anyhow my 2nd chart when i drop the date onto the axis it asks for a choice of (year, quarter, month, day)
if i choose (year + month) it only shows year and groups values to the year.
if i choose (month) it only shows months and groups previous years into it.
how do i get my 2nd chart to view the date column on the axis as month + year?
i do see i can go to table view and modeling and change the date type and format to same as my first chart, but that doesn't fix it.

ah i found it.
axis > date column > click down arrow and select the column name instead of the Date Hierarchy
Drill down a level in the hierarchy?
ah i found it.
axis > date column > click down arrow and select the column name instead of the Date Hierarchy
