approach to suppress matrix output until data is subset/filtered?

i have a dataset with 7 dimensions in a straightforward but extensive hierarchy.  The requirement is to allow users to multi-select through the seven levels of the hierarchy and eventually arrive at a subset of the data for reporting.  As such the output matrix should not be loaded/displayed until the selection process is complete.

I've looked into using isfiltered to say flag=if(isfiltered(dim7)),1,blank()) (or some more complex logic for combinations of dimensions) and set a visual filter to exclude flag=blank() but it doesn't work because the dimensions are part of the matrix structure.  Isfiltered is always true() in this context.

So HOW do I go about suppressing the complete table output in this case?  Thanks for the assist.

Hi @cturner,

Sorry for the delay. If it is convenient, could you share a dummy pbix file which can reproduce the scenario, so that we can help further investigate on it? You can upload it to OneDrive or Dropbox and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.)

Best Regards,

Cherry
