Year by Year Visualisation

Hi All,

I am trying to generate a visual which will show 2018 and 2019 data side by side.

The data is sourced from the same matrix, however the BI functionality appear to only allow for the year to be sliced or a report level filter.

Please advise how I could work around this ?

Hi @theBIA 

You may try to use below two ways.

First way,create two measures to get different years' sales.

Sale 2018 = CALCULATE(SUM(Table1[sales]),YEAR(Table1[date])=2018)

Sale 2019 = CALCULATE(SUM(Table1[sales]),YEAR(Table1[date])=2019)

Second way,use matrix visual and drag year to column as below.

So my data is contained in a single report, thus will the first solution work if it is referencing the same table but for different dates ?

Essentially I am trying to see a Value on the Y axis, with a month by month comparison of 2018 and 2019 data side by side on the X axis

Yes,the first way would work for your scenario.You may create a calendar table and link it with your tables.
