Hello, I have a dataset containing the home cities of each employee in an organization in the Dallas Fort Worth area. The goal is to show a "heat map" by population density for each city/region. Unfortunately I'm unable to get a dataset with just the zip code for each employee as if that were the case I would just use a filled map using the zip code field in Location and have the data color set to a range based on the number of records for each zip.
The problem I'm running into is that I would try to just map by city alone, but Power BI keeps wanting to include cities that are not in Texas. For instance, mapping the city of Clarksville Texas as Clarksville Tennessee. One solution I was thinking is that I take a list of all the zip codes in Texas and create groups of zip codes for each city. Fortunately, Power BI allows for the display of zip code groups on the map.
What I'm trying to do is somehow add the detail of the count of records for each zip code group created, and use that to color each zip code group on the map. So I created a table with a list of all zip codes and the major city for each zip code and created groups of all zip codes by city name. My other table contains a single column with each row being the city an employee lives in. Is it possible to add the count of records in the employee table for each zip code group in order to color by record count for each zip code group on the map? Or can anyone think of a better way to accomplish this?
