Working with Periodic Factual Tables ... and controlling access

Hi,

i will start working with a Periodic Daily Fact Table - so everyday i have a snapshot, even when there aren't any changes...

I would like to ask in general what  are precautions i should have when developing reports in Power BI.

For example, if it's a daily snapshot, most probably the measures don't have any meaning if the user selects several days.

So how can i do that, is it supposed to add a filter to every calculation? Use HASONEVALUE?....

And 2 related "access"questions:

I will work somewhere with SSAS 2016 / SSAS 2017 or Azure AS, some users will have access to everything (here the previous question applies), but others will will only have access to "yesterday", "last day of month before", and "last day of last year". How would you develop this? Where will i organize the access for my users and/or groups, it's on SSAS side or Power BI side? How do i manage on one side users that have access to everything, and others that only have access to 3 specific days?

Best regards, and thanks for your help

Regards

Hi @Anonymous

I can answer for question 2

You can implement a row level security in a way that user has restricted access to the content in the report. This is called Row Level Security.

In your scenario, if you imported the data into Power BI Desktop you can configure Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI.

If you are using a live connection, you will not be able to configure RLS within the Power BI service. This is defined within the Analysis Services model on-premises.

Hi @v-juanli-msft ,

one stupid question 🙂 : In the case that you inplement PBI RLS on a PBIX file, what doesn't stop a user with the file to remove the DAX conditions/filters and see all the contents ?
