I have a report built with multiple dynamic Parameters (user selects a metric and then a min and max value for that metric), which we then pass through a DirectQuery to a PostgreSQL database. The parameters are fairly simple (select an attribute, select a min value, select max value) and the query works to pick out the right attribute where the value is >= min and the value is <= max.
Currently, the min and max slicers are set to single select options via a dropdown (i.e. select your min and select your max from the dropdown), but this is quite cumbersome for our users because the range of values from which the user selects a min and max can be really wide (e.g. can be 0 - 100% or $0 to $100,000 with lots of values inbetween).
We want the user to be able to use a slider (or similar functionality) to select the min and max values (i.e. a slicer with the between option - from which we'll draw out the min and max values to pass to the parameters).
But the only functionality for the slicer once the values metric is bound to a dynamic parameter is either a list or a dropdown (neither of which is practical for a large range of values if we want the user to somehow choose a "between" option).
Is this possible to reconfigure a slicer or set up a data model that will enable this type of "between" selection for a value, and then pass the min and max values from that selection to a dynamic M parameter?
Thanks!
