Why no date icon and hierarchy?

I was wondering one one of my date columns does not have a date icon and no date heirarchy?

I have attached the screenshot. 
It is formatted as date in excel, and in Model. 

I am bemused.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a relationship with a date table?

The times i have seen this are when there is a relationship with a date table.  The hierarchy 'switches' to the date table side.

Yes I do have a relationship to a date table.
