Hello,
This is my 1 st tiem using RLS. I have created reports and tried to show reports by each department user. So I have created simple filter (to test RLS) on Managed roles [Department] = "JMW/DSH" (see below picture)
then I test it out as View Users (see below picture). It works the way I want it. Then I published to the server (Online)
Then assign some users for the RLS filter as you can see below.
Again I tested as a role, it worked great.
but those users log in from their account, they will see all the data. It does not filter out the "JMW/DSH" department.
Can anybody please tell me what is wrong with it? Am I doing something wrong? I upload my report in the workspace and they all in that workspace, plus I am a Power Bi pro user.
Thyank you so much

@bikelley as far as your permissions are stored out and working in Power BI service, it will work doesn't matter how the reports are shared, Teams or Sharepoint etc.

I am sorry to keep troubling you. I still have the same issue that he can see everything.
I have changed one of the user's ("Bruno") permission settings. In the workspace he's just a Viewer and in the report "manager permission" section I put him as a Viewer as well. I make sure when I add him to the report I uncheck "Allow recipients to build new content from the underlying datasets" but he can "Allow recipients to reshare the artifact"
Can you please tell me I am doing anything wrong this time.
Please see below picture for me details.
I really appricate your help.
Thank you Dhana
@bikelley and once you have that permission they will have access to the full data, RLS will not be applied than.

Hi @parry2k
I will try to change permission and give it a try. One last question, if I embedded this report sharepoint page, does RSL work? I mean , does it filter out the department depen the user we assigned on Power BI Online security.
Thank you
@bikelley what kind of permission they have on the workspace? Did you give them build permission when shared the report? How it is shared?

Hi @parry2k ,
Thank you for the quick help. They all have Admin Permissions on particular reports. I assume they can build a report under admin permission.
Is that the problem? If they are not admin and it will work?
Please let me know how to fix it.
Thank you so much
