Why Table.SelectRows is creating new columns ?

I have a PowerQuery query with 2 steps :

  • Step maj3 -> it generates a table with 2 columns

maj3.PNG

  • Next step : maj3b : I apply a Table.SelectRows on maj3 ... and I get 3 more columns for free !

maj3b.PNG

Why PowerQuery adds these 3 undesired columns ?

Regards

Hi @jct999 ,

Could you please use the Diagnosis to track what happened when this step evaluate? Does it reproduce when you copy the entire query into a new file?

@jct999 very weird is it possible for you the share the pbix with source data used in this query, remove any sensitive information before sharing. nothing seems wrong looking at the screenshots you provided.

Feel free to email me with any of your BI needs.

I use this query in many PowerBI files & Excel files, with always the same source of data.

I noticed today that sometimes I get the 3 mores columns, sometimes not ... I don't know why.

This is an other reason why I definitively prefer Python, Pandas, Numpy etc ... instead of PowerQuery and DAX...

Using these tools is a nightmare.

@jct999 If I have same experience likes yours, I would surely stop using these tools but I'm doing Power BI since it is made available and never had this kind of issue until it is a bug (which ofcourse can happen) but never seen what you have shown here and that's the reason I asked for pbix file to explore and look into it. I hope you are ok to share.
