When filtering relative date slicer by "Next" and a time period, my visuals just show blank?

I have some insurance policies that have expiration dates in the future and i would like to have a card visual that shows how many are set to expire "in the next 1 calendar month/1 calendar year/1 calendar week/etc." but it only shows a blank when i selected any dates in the future. The data is completely accurate when showing dates in the past like "last 1 month" i have combed the dataset and have confirmed that.

I have been using this DAX measure to get the data:

CY Expirations = CALCULATE( SUM('dim_PolicyControlNo_Basics'[Expiration Count]),
USERELATIONSHIP(dim_PolicyControlNo_Basics[PolicyExpirationDate_ID], Dates[Date_ID]),
FILTER(ALLSELECTED(Dates), Dates[Date] <= MAX(Dates[Date])))

My expiration count column is just a 1 or a 0 if the policy has an expiration date (they all do so every row in the column is a 1). Am i doing something wrong? Why would this work perfectly for every date today and prior but not the future?

Hi @quinnjohnson

This might be a silly question on my part but what is the maximum / last date you have incorporated into your Date table?   It could be that the maximum date in the Date table is less than the future periods the measure is attempting to return.

If this isn't it, could you provide an example of the Data Model / Data Set?

Thanks heaps,

Theo

YOU GENIUS!!!!! That is the issue thank you so much!

@quinnjohnson you're making me blush LOL! No one has ever called me that before haha. In all honesty, it's something I have literally done myself when I first started using Power BI.  All part of the learning journey 🙂

All the best with it mate!
