What is the difference between views and viewers count in report usage metrics?

I am developing a report to get the report viewers and their activities to maintain the pbi licenses from the dumped data of individual reports in each workspace and inside the detailed usage report xlsx, i found these two.

I might sound silly but can anyone explain the differences between views and viewers count? I'm bit puzzled.

Thanks,

k3.

p.s. the following visual i created from the dumped usage metrics.

Hi @k3rz0rg,

Is above your personalize report usage metrics?

Per my understanding, Views stand for the total view times of current report. While ViewersCount calculates the number of unique users that have viewed this report. For example, two people have viewed this report, one of them viewed for three times, in that case, the Views should be 4 and ViewersCount should be 2.

Hi @v-yulgu-msft, can you explain what constitues a "view".

Example, If a user keeps a report open in browser tab open, and visits the tab again, are these multiple views even if the tab was never closed? Or If a user rerefershs a browser tab, is it considered another view?

@v-yulgu-msftcan you provide some clairity on that a "view" is and also how it differs from a "view" in the out of the box usage metrics in power bi service.

Hi @mahimabedi,

according to my experience (since managing usage metrics is one of my regular tasks), if the tab was never closed, then that will be considered as one view. I also experimented with switching back and forth different pages but so far I noticed it's tied up with tab refresh mostly (otherwise, I'd get a huge number on page views).

This is a tooltip view of one viewer in May. In my opinion, revisiting opened tab would give me higher numbers than this.

K3

Thank you @v-yulgu-msft, I really appreciate it.

now I know which one to consider for my report...
