What happens to calculated values once I refresh the data?

Suppose I manually add columns and constant values to my data.

Then I have new data and refresh the table. (like daily SQL refreshing).

Are my values recalculated or gone?

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

If you add the columns on the Power BI side then any new source data will go through the same ETL steps (query editor) and the relationships and measures/calc columns (DAX) will reflect this new data.

If the source data changes structure, ie new columns or renamed columns, it can potentially break your query. Future proofing for this very reason is always something to consider when building your data model.

This is horrible for constant refreshes with new rows.
