What does Creating connection in model... do on Refresh when SQL Server columns are added?
When columns are added to tables on SQL Server databases, then refreshing reports with DirectQuery can take minutes to complete or never complete.
How can I speed it up? Which settings are related to Creating connection in model...?

I think you may need to optmize your data model to speed it up.

One recommendation is to disable all relationship related options in the data load settings, and the data type sensing options too.
