Week 53 appearing in 2017

Hi, I have a column called "WeekNumber" using the =WEEKNUM( [date] ) function, but it seems that there is a week number 53 for 2017 which appears in my slicers and graphs. The only date in week 53 is 31/12/2017.

Is there a way to fix this? Or go around this?

Do bear in mind that this column will also be used for the succeeding year (2018).

Thanks!

Hi @v-jiascu-msft

Many thanks for your suggestions! Is there a way to start Week 1 on 02/01/2017?

When I tried the first suggestion, I had week 53 starting on 26/12/2017.

Hi @afk,

Can you share a snapshot please? It's from 25/12/2017 in the snapshot of my last post.

Hi @v-jiascu-msft,

Yes you're right, it is also 25/12/2017 for me.

Is there a way to start week 1 on 02/01/2017? Such that week 52 is 25/12/2017 - 31/12/2017?

Hi @afk,

There is a 53 week in 2017 indeed. The point is how you want to deal with it. The solution could be simple like this:

1. If using this formula, the 1st week would have only 1 day.

Weeknum = WEEKNUM([Date],2)

2. Use a more specific formula then you can achieve anything you want.

Weeknum 2 =
IF ( WEEKNUM ( [Date] ) = 53, 0, WEEKNUM ( [Date] ) )

Week_53_appearing_in_2017

So which one would you prefer?

Dale
