Website to Power BI Migration

I have been assigend a task to migrate Website to Power BI.

The Website has the following functionality.

1. A search Option. (on Particular Column)

2. A Table which shows the results. (the data is huge, records are above 50 lakhs)

So, when user enter the keyword, it will search for the keyword in server and displays the results in a table.  It is easy while doing this in .Net or some other programming.  However, with Power BI, how can i achieve this?

as per my knowledge, i can create a parameter to fetch the information.  But, I want the search field on the Report level itself. So, user doesn't need to edit parameter. Similar to Slicer.

Is there a way around?

Thank you in advance.

Just feed the values of the column in a Slicer. Enable search option. Hope it will help you.

But one thing needs to be remembered, User has to select a value from search result so that the table will be filtered based on the selection.

Thanks,

Siva Mani

Thanks for the reply siva mani, it is a huge database and i don't want to load all the data into the report. I am trying to replicate the same as website. When we input the parameters, the Search Event will go and fetch the releveant information based on the parameter provided.

Relates to power bi, we can do it with Parameters, but the user has to select edit parameters and enter the keyword. Here, I am looking for a way that user select the value from slicer then, it has to trigger the get the relevant information from the server. In other way, selected value from slicer has to pass to the parameter and refresh the data.

HI @rocky09,

Unfortunately, slicer is impossible to affect query tables, current you can only use query parameter to affect query tables.

Thank you for your reply.  But, we can't publish them. right?

Hi @rocky09,

You can publish this report, but your plan 'use slicer to dynamic change data source' not works.

Reference about use query parameter in power bi service.

Using the Power BI Service Parameters to change connection strings (To possibly change between Dev,

Notice: current power bi still not support use query parameters to dynamic change table structure.
