Am I missing something or does flagging a column with the data category of "Web URL" not do anything? I guess what I was hoping for was that in some visualization that it would actually show up as a clickable link or something...
The column containing the web URL has to be in the format "http://..." or "https://.... If you put the column into a table, it will be clickable but not necessarily in other types of visualizations. Hope this helps.
OK, that seemed to do it. For some reason, when the query brought in the URL, it replaced the ":" with ":", the ASCII HTML markup code for ":". This, despite the fact that I specifically replaced ":" with ":" in the M code and it showed up correctly in the preview as ":" instead of ":". So, I created a new column:
Url = REPLACE([Link],5,5,":")
And tagged this new column as "Web URL" and it worked as I expected.
