My data source is "web" (JSON). I've followed all of the usual steps in adding a data source and several colums of data are not pulling into the power query editor. What are reasons why data/columns would not be pulling into Power BI and what can I do to have these columns appear?
@kault I'm not sure you have enough detail here to provide an answer. You forgot to expand a column perhaps?
Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882
Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490
The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
This is all of the information available. I did not forget to expand a column. What are reasons why data would not be pulling from a data source?
Hi @kault ,
Could you please provide some related screenshots which the data display in the web page and Power Query Editor separately in order to make troubleshooting? Could you please also share the applied codes in your Advanced Editor? Later we need to check which columns are missing and analyze the possible cause... If it involve any sensitive information, please mask it.
In addition, please review the solution in the following threads, hope they can help you resolve the problem.
Best Regards
@kault Sunspot activity? Underpants gnomes? Literally, there is no way to answer that question. The most likely reason is that those columns aren't actually in the data or there is a format issue with the data. Could be a bug in the JSON parser in the connector. Would need one of two things. A link to the actual JSON on the web or the actual JSON file as text or attachment. Otherwise, it's just pure guessing although my bet would be the underpants gnomes...
