Hi. Found an issue connecting "Web" data source to PowerBi.
Since an update (?) Web view inside Navigator has lost all interaction abilities.

I can't use the web page to get data source i need - the scenario seems completely broken to me
The same scenario in Excel2013, for instance, worked well - it uses IE components and controls are live

The main problem is when a given web data source needs web form authorization (almost any of them, obvious). I can't even type credentials inside Navigator view because all interactions are disabled.
Hope that's just a silly bug and you're fix it soon.
Yours, Victor
Hi Dale, thank you for the reply,
the PowerBi behavior is clearly different - that makes sense if it really has evolved from Power Query tools - but it also will be nice to have interactive mode in Navigator itself.
As for now overall scenario makes me open & fill credentials in Excel 2013, and then create query in PowerBI which shares them from the IE storage...
I understand that it's maybe not a #1 priority issue, but to have it somewhere in backlog will be great
The second reason - Excel 2013 and "old" data connection tools (based on com:WebBrovser_v1) are becoming older, legacy and will obsolete somewhen; that means one day there will be no way to create such data connection at all 😞
Hi @cgvictor,
I think the Power Query web connector could be more intelligent though it isn't as intuitive as the other one. Actually the Power Query web connector provide many functions. You can give it a try, If you still want to have the web browser feature, please submit an idea here: https://ideas.powerbi.com.
Best Regards!
Dale
Hi Dale,
I've checked "advanced" pane, but these options won't help the user with web auth and/or data selection. Main idea is to adjust actual query for data source in an interactive way on remote host - login, grid options, search terms, filters, etc..
+ Posted an idea here https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/32082643-add-interactions-to-web-... , fingers crossed 🙂
Hi @cgvictor,
I can reproduce it with Excel 2013. But Power BI uses a different module that is Power Query we can say. That's why Power BI behaves in another way. This documentation explains clearly what the web view does.
You can try it with the Power Query add-in of Excel 2013. And you can see the difference from this video.
Best Regards!
Dale
