Visual for Failures

Folks,

Need a suggestion to use a visual to indicate best visual for failures or a critical event. Let's say I have a dashboard to monitor database usage and I have a critical condition to watch for which needs to be highlighted.

The event I am trying to monitor may occur rarely. I tried couple of visuals however since the other events count is heavy, this critical event does not get highlighted prominently. Is there any way I can put a weight to this event given that it is highly critical?

What's the best visual to use in such scenario? Waiting for expert comments.

Hey,

since the August release of Power BI Desktop it's possible to assign a measure a data category, I would suggest the data category "Image url".

Then you can use this example

Now you will see an indicator whenever there is critical event.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes this is a good option. Although I am looking for something like an ECG which monitors your heart beats and gives a "spike" for a critical event.

I tried couple of visuals and put a red color to critical event however the event occurs only may be once a quarter, it does not get prominently displayed like a spike.

Hey,

I'm wondering if you can share some sample data, create a pbix and upload the file to onedrive or dropbox, and then share the link.

What do you want to achieve: create a report that helps to track/identify an critical event.

Maybe you can also describe what failure means and how long the occurence of one critical event has to be traceable.

Why not just create KPI card with a red background that you use on each report page and does its magic when the data contains a critical event in the last x days.

Regards,

Tom
