Using hyperlink and open in the same tab

Hi I have created a dashboard with diffrenet KPI's in the overview Page. Now i have linked all the KPI's with the hyper link to see the detail page of the perticular KPI.

Now when i click the hyperlink, it opens in the another tab. What i want is, that when i click on the link it should open in the same tab.

I have used KPI Metrics visualisation for dashbaord. I cant use the Bookmark option as it wont make sense in my part and also drillthorugh option is not available in this visualisation.

Can you please suggest the other option or is there any plan from microsoft to implment the same in future?

Has there been any movement on this? I upvoted it. I see the original suggestion was in 2015. It is still very much needed and would be welcome by many. Anyone come up with a workaround in all this time?

This features reduces the number of TABs opened and so is very much important for the end users better experience.

At this time it looks like there is still no setting to open the link in the same tab. Does anyone know if there is an idea for this already?

The workaround mentioned above doesn't work. I voted on the idea and commented there for Microsoft to fix this hyperlink issue (as it is key from Reports to navigate when there is an business need or navigating within same tab usecases)

Hi
I am also facing same issue .

Requirement

Existing :

There are two dashboards named orders and sales each is a separate dashboard now. Both have different calculations and different visuals . The details of orders and sales are displayed salesperson/region wise.

New :

The user needs to navigate between the two dashboard using buttons. That is when he clicks sales from orders he should be able to go to sales dashboard and vice versa. The same needs to open in the same tab/window and not new window.

Challenges I am facing

1. Both dashboards are created by pinning live reports .

The things I have tried

1. Bookmarks:  Bookmark are not working if we have pinned live pages to dashboard.

2. If I pin each of the visual to a new dashboard rather than pinning live dashboard for the bookmarks to work, the issue is  I have slicers on both dashboards to select the region and sales person . We cannot pin slicers to the dashboard.

3. Hyperlink: I added a text box and added a hyperlink to connect to new dashboard. It works . But it is opening in new window/tab. I am not able to make it open on the same tab.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on my testing, there is no permanent solution for such issue, please vote it in this idea: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/10327392-allow-hyperlinks-in-text... .

However, there is a temporary solution for you in order to open the hyperlink in the same tab as the report. Right click hyperlink and then select “Inspect element”, you will see the code for the hyperlink which likes this :

<a href="https://msit.powerbi.com/groups/me/dashboards/5db599e5-bb56-407c-9c48-db81f2fe637d" target="_blank">Dashboard</a>

Change the code to <a href="https://msit.powerbi.com/groups/me/dashboards/5db599e5-bb56-407c-9c48-db81f2fe637d">Dashboard</a>, then you can open the dashboard in the same tab as the report.

This is not a workable solution at all for business users.  This has not been resolved and should not be marked as a solution.

Almost anything can be done on the fly using HTML inspector as a hack, however this is not feasible for business users.

A picture of this would be great please as I still have this issue years later and can't find a solution.

Very frustrating!
