Using both Synchronized Slicers and Bookmarks

I was very excited by the recent release of both Synchronized slicers and Bookmarks, however I have hit a problem which may fundamentally mean I cannot successfully use both in a report. (I am really hoping there is a workaround I have overseen!)

Firstly, I have a page which uses bookmarks to shows 4 different results. The bookmarks contain different filters and are linked to a shape (made to look like buttons) for a super easy user experience.

Secondly, I also have a slicer in my report which allows the user to filter down on a specific ‘site location’. Using synchronized slicers I am able to allow the user to filter the whole report for the ‘site location’ they want to see (which is great!).

HOWEVER, the issue seems to lie when I try and combine the two functions in one report. The user selects a ‘site location’ using the slicer. But when they click one of the bookmark buttons to view different results the ‘site location’ slicer is removed as the bookmark was not set with this ‘site location filter’ on as the filter needs to vary depending on what ‘site location’ the user wants to see.

Is there any way around this…..? So the bookmarks can take into consideration whatever ‘site location’ filter the user has chosen for the report at that time?

Please note I am restricted to having a Live Data connection. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated 😊

Hi,

You may want to create multiple of the report and use the bookmarks to hide and show the visuals so it seems like it is all interacting.

Thanks for your response anthlen.

I would be tempted to do this if I had the ability to copy and paste pages from one report to the next but as this is not possible in Power BI it would mean having to repeatedly create from scratch and edit pages in each of the seperate reports causing so much duplication of work.

Did you ever find a good work around? I am struggling with this exact problem. I created an entry page for a report many people will use. They select their name from a filer that is synced with the other pages of the report and then they "click" a "Log In" button that is just an image linked to a boomark of the main page. If they click their name in the filter and just go to the second page using the tabs at the bottom it works fine and everything is filtered correctly. If they click the log on button it will take them to the unfiltered main page but I would like both of these features to work together and the bookmark to recognize the log in filter. Thanks for any help!

If anyone else is having this problem. This works and is very simple.
