Using MEASURE as a visualization filter (slicer or page level filter)

Hi everyone,

I have created a MEASURE in order to calculate the difference between two columns in my visualization. Both columns come from different tables. Below we can see the MEASURE field (red) that is the yellow one minus the green one:

I have done a MEASURE replacing my previous extra table (with the calculus in a new column) structure because I think is more elegant in terms of programmation but... it seems I cannot use this MEASURE as a slicer or page level filter, any suggestion to use the MEASURE for this function?

If you need extra information do not hesitate to ask me.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi dude,

Calculated Measure we cannot use in Filter . Except in visual level filter.

If u want to exclude any unwanted value we can do at DAX end .

If need any help let me know in DAX.

Cheers dude.

Hi both, sorry for my late answer to this issue.

@parry2k

Thanks a lot for your answer, I like the second link you provided because is very understandable and it makes clear where the differences between both methods are.

@Baskar

Thanks a lot for your answer, I will accept yours as solution because is more explicit and the possibility to use the measure as a visual level filter is very interesting in my opinion (if I'm not wrong is like a slicer but slightly more difficult to set than it, isn't it?)

Hey Baskar,

Is there any chance you could explain how you do this with Dax? I have a similar issue.

Thank you!

Adam

Hi @Baskar can you share more details on how to engineer calculated measure a slicer (in my case power bi desktop is connected SQL Server directquery mode)
