User End Help Text on Report

Hi ,

Is there a way we can show help text for end users. I understand we have "Alt text" for screen reading but I would like to have screen pop-out  /hoverver mesage without create multiple bookmarks.  Any thoughts or best practice on this ?

thanks

I've created information button icons where when the users hovers over it, a pop-up text appears which is the "Tooltip" entry of that button that I placed my text in that appears when the mouse hovers over. The "Tooltip" entry limits the number of characters that can be entered so this may or may not work for your needs. Additionally, the information icon button has an "Action" that takes the user to another report page to show term definitions and any calculation formulas for reference to the user. Then there's a back button to take the user back to the previous report page that they were just on.

Bookmarks are useful but can become a maintainence nightmare if you use alot of them. Keep things simple with Bookmarks if you decide to go that route.

OK, After some trial I think I have a solution for the above probelm. Here it goes..
"Blank" Button is your Best-est friend.
Add a button, resize to the title of the report and leave it on top of the title area.
Just create a measure with the text you want to help the end user.
Change the icon state to Hoover like @Anonymous  said in above message.
Go to tootip and add conditional format tooltip, drag the measure.  Now hoover over the title  ..

Boom there you go.. 🙂

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. I have tired the buttons and tool tip is ok but as you say the char limit is annoying. I have seen in some blog or  video when pressing a button shows a call-out type box for all visuals with some description. But, sadly I dont remember where I say that clip.

regards
