Use OData from on premise Business Central

Hi

I want to use the OData webservices from our Business Central.

However Business Central is on premise.

How can I use the OData webservices?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

Hi @v-shex-msft

Thanks for your reply.

I tried your advice and used the Dynamics Business central on-premise connection.

However if I use an OData URL from my Business central, with the same credentials, I get the following error:

I use VPN to have access to the server.

Can you help me out?

Kind regards

HI @Anonymous,

I mean the OData feed connector instead of the Dynamics Business central connector, the data connector types should match with source data URL types.

Connect to an OData feed in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Hi @v-shex-msft

I already tried OData and it doesn't work either.

It says the same issue that Power BI cannot verify my credentials.

But I use exactly the same login and password in OData feed as when I want to open the webservice in Business Central.

Can you help me out?

Hi @Anonymous,

Did this data source deploy on your local device? If you are working with that data source remotely, Did you confirm to finish the configure of VPN/proxy to mapping current device(configure the network setting and firewall rule on the current device, enable odata connection and correspond firewall whitelist on remote data source side) to access the remote data source? (you can use other connection tools to test on your device)
In addition, it seems like the server name with the port number does not work in the data connector, have you tried to use IP address and port number instead?

Hi @Anonymous,

According to your description, it seems like you can work with an on-premises OData data source.

For this scenario, you can also use the OData connector to get data from the OData service and you need to do some network mapping operations(if the on-premise data source is not hosted on the same network environments that you design the report) to help power bi desktop client connect to get on-premises data source.

After you publish this report to the power bi service side, you need to setting a gateway to help power bi service to map/link to the on-premises data source.
