I am using Analysis Services, and I would like to use an imported cube to use "User viewing credentials" (or equivalent); is this possible?
I tried to "cheat", by creating a time-based variable that returns false until shortly after it has been uploaded, which makes the report empty until the specified time has passed (it does so in M Query, where the import statements from the cubes returns only the correct columns but no content i.e. rows). Then the thought was to have the user update when viewing the report.
However, there seems to be a number of issues, such as is it even possible for the user to refresh with their credentials semi-automatically (i.e. without login in through the actual data sources page) or at all, without having to manage a multitude of identical reports with various credentials? How can I make sure the update order is correct, so that it updates the criteria for updating in the first place before it actually checks to update the tables themselves?
All of this feels like a real hassle for something that should be really easy, so am I missing something obvious here or what? A search on the internet didn't turn up much at all, so I'm kinda at a loss here. Of course, I know the best way is Live Connections and pre-made cubes, but that's not really an option at this point, so I need to find other solutions.
