Hi,
I'm trying to update to the latest version of PowerBI and am facing an issue other users have experienced. However, I have not been able to solve it using the strategies suggested.
I am unable to install Power BI Desktop (x64) since it will prompt me with "Are you sure you want to cancel Microsoft Power BI Desktop (x64) installation?" right after I click 'Next' on the first screen. It seems to freeze and I have to use task manager to close it. I have verified that my computer is 64 bit and have tried the 32 bit installer just in case. I am on a remote machine and don't have access to the admin account, but I do have admin privileges. But running the install with admin privileges does not solve the problem.

My issue is similar to https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/On-fresh-install-quot-Are-you-sure-you-want-to-cancel-Micro.... In the issue linked, the solution was to allow the system to create a restore point. Because of the way the desktop is configured, I cannot create a restore point. But the log seems to suggest that this is not the cause of the error. The initial error is

I verified that both the Admin and System have full access to the path. I do not know why the installer cannot secure the path.
