Update data source

Hallo

I have problems with updating my data source. The data source i excel and it is store at local PC. I have installed a personal gateway to update, but at every friday night the server restarts and the gateway fail with the following message:

Your personal gateway (personal mode) is offline or could not be contacted. Make sure that the gateway computer is turned on and you have logged in to itduring the scheduled update periode.

I am guessing  it is because i am not logged in when the server restarts, but what can i do about it?

Try uploading the file in sharepoint/One Drive and connect from there 🙂

Hi @Anonymous,

Maybe you can try to upload your file to onedrive, then get data from web connector with onedreive file url, build report and publish to power bi service.

After you configure data source credentials at power bi service side, it will use onedrive refresh and not need a gateway to handle refresh options. You only need to update excel file which stored in onedrive.

In addition, you can try to set up running gateway client after system startup, it may fix this issue.
