Hi,
When connecting to Surveymonkey via PBI desktop, it throws an error message "unexpected error". Does anyone know how to debug in order to get more details about the error?
What I did:
Any hints are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Marc
Hi @marc_kaiser ,
As the official document said, any data source marked as Beta or Preview for Power BI Desktop may not be available for use in the Power BI service or other Microsoft services until the data source becomes generally available (GA).
To my knowledge, Power bi will use the saved permissions when you connect to same data source. You can click data sources in current file-> edit permissions/clear permissions to change the permissions.
Additionally, too low version may cause such errors as well. Please upgrade the Power BI Desktop to the latest version and have a try again.
You could refer to blog or video here for further help.

Thanks, @v-eqin-msft. I updated PBI desktop but still the same error. I will then wait for GA of the surveymonkey connector. Thanks, Marc
@marc_kaiser , not sure you are able to save the connection. Can you open the power query and see if there is any additional error details
@amitchandak , thanks for your reply. I am in an empty pbix file. In the power query, I try to add a new query or add a new source (get data). I then select the surveymonkey connector, and I get the error. But maybe I am missing something... This is what I see in the data soure settings.
To help troubleshoot, you can go to the query editor, create a blank query with just SurveyMonkey.Contents() and then put in your token. Maybe you will get more info about the error that way.
