Unable to set data category for anything that comes from tabular model

Hi,

I'm currently using a tabular model (direct query) with my power bi. I'm finding that I can't change the data category of any of the fields that come from the tabular model. So for example if I have a URL hardcoded in a field I can't go ahead and change the data category to URL so it can be clickable. I know the fields are all set as varchar in the tabular model, should I setting them as something else to allow me to do this?

Thanks

You would need to set the data category of the columns in the model using Visual Studio:

datacategory.jpg

Those data types will get fed to Power BI so if you set a column to 'WebURL' it will be clickable in Power BI.

Hi,

Thanks so much, I think this should fix it. I'll have to wait until the new version of the model is deployed to be completely sure.

Thanks again.
