Unable to publish report outside dataset workspace

Hi all,

I'm trying to publish a report (connected to a Power BI live dataset) to a different workspace from where the dataset is located.

Unfortunately I'm no longer getting the option to do so, when attempting to publish only the workspace with the dataset is displayed. The workspaces are all part of the "new experience" so that shouldn't be an issue (as per this article).

Is there any setting that needs to be applied in a certain way that I might be missing?

Hi, @Anonymous ;

According to the official document,

  • Building a report on top of a dataset in a different workspace requires the new workspace experience at both ends: The report needs to be in a new workspace experience and the dataset needs to be in a new workspace experience. You can only copy reports in a new workspace experience to another new workspace experience, and not to classic workspaces or to My Workspace.
  • In a classic workspace, the dataset discovery experience only shows the datasets in that workspace.

I tested it ,you could check to see if the limitations in this article are met, it's easy to overlook the fact that when you link to a workspace, it needs to be a new workspace and can only be published to another new workspace.

@Anonymous , Open the report try to save as then you should get an option to choose a workspace.

if you do not get that,  From three dots on Top right of Service-> Go to Setting -> Admin portal and Tenant setting, check for any setting to allow to save report across workspace.
