Hi,
Until last week i was able to connect with PowerBI desktop, but today when i try to login and connect my oracle database, randomly i am getting error like this:
We encountered an error while trying to connect:
Details: "Oracle: ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA
I am unsure what is the reason behind this and i am trying to figure out in vain,Could someone please fix the issue or please let me know how to get this working,i tried several ways but unable to get it cleared.
Thanks
Hi @harryishs,
Regarding the error message "Oracle: ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA", the issue should be caused by Oracle client is not installed, or if it is not configured properly. If it is installed, you will want to verify the tnsnames.ora file is properly configured and you are using the proper net_service_name. See: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-gateway-onprem-manage-oracle/#troubleshoot...
You can also take a look at jmiridium 's suggestion in this similar thread Connect To Oracle Database .
