Unable to load Hive tables in PowerBI

Hi,

I am trying to connect Power BI with Hive table; for this I am using 64 bit MapR ODBC driver. I have created the DSN on my system and it test successfully. However when I try to connect hive; it connect successfully but once I select a table to load it throws folllowing error:

DataSource.Error: ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [MapR][Hardy] (35) Error from server: error code: '0' error message: 'MetaException(message:java.lang.NullPointerException)'.

Details:

    DataSourceKind=Odbc

    DataSourcePath=dsn=<DSN NAME>

    OdbcErrors=Table

With the same dsn, I am able to load the data in Tableau and Teradata Sql Assistant. Moreover, if I define my query (SELECT * FROM TABLE) in the advance option then I am able to load data from hive in Power BI.

Any idea what might be the reason behind such behaviour

Thanks in advance

@abhi1488,

Do you use the 64-bit and latest version of Power BI Desktop(2.50.4859.502) to connect to the data source? Please follow the guide in this blog to connect to Hive data source by installing Microsoft Hive ODBC Driver and check if you get any errors.

Regards,
Lydia
