If you have changed the type to Duration in Power Query, then apply formatting in the model as follows

Thank you for the tip! 

I am still getting an error when i change the data type into 'Duration' in power query. But by leaving the data type unchanged (from Date/Time or Time) and changing it to the format you specified (h:nn:ss), I am getting the required result. 

Now i'm trying to convert the duration into total seconds so that i can use it in the formula for a calculated column.
