Unable to Start Power BI Desktop (We weren't able to connect to the model)

We have installed Microsoft Power BI Desktop at a client server (Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard 64-bit). They have installed version 2.72 64-bit from december 2019.

Recently, they have experienced issues when opening .pbix files on the server. Power BI tries to initialize the model but returns the following error "We weren't able to connect to the model".

I have tried to upgrade their Power BI program to version 2.82 64-bit from June 2020, but the problem persists.

If I copy the pbix-file to my local laptop and opens it there, it opens succesfully. I am using the same 2.82 64-bit from June 2020 on my local laptop.

We have limited options regarding restarting their server and changing various settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
