Hi,
I've seen this error on the board a few times, but I'm still running into issues connecting to Oracle through Power BI. The error that I'm seeing is below:
Details: "The provider being used is deprecated: 'System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.'. Please visit https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=272376 to install the official provider."
I've visited the site multiple times and have downloaded / installed the 64 bit ODAC from here: https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html (64-bit ODAC 12.2c Release 1 (12.2.0.1.1) for Windows x64).
Prior to installing that I installed Oracle Database 12c (64 bit) from here: https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/oracle12c-windows-3633015.h... (Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64))
I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do next. Most recently I've uninstalled/reinstalled both of these under my windows account so that client_1 and dbhome_1 folders are now located in this folder path: C:\app\my_user\product\12.2.0
Any help would be appreciated!
Hi @jesse_bi_93,
You need the latest ODP.net library to use Oracle. Please download it here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/dotnet/utilsoft-086879.html

Frank
