Trouble with tar.gz files

Hey,

I'm working with tar.gz from a public FTP directory. The problem is I'm having trouble getting the file contents into PowerBI. For a single .tar.gz file, I am able to decompress:

Binary.Decompress(File.Contents("File path on local drive"), Compression.GZip))

Capture.PNG

The trouble is, I am left with a .tar file, which contains 1500-2500 XML files.  I can convert this file into a csv document or text file but it's not really useful.

Does anyone have any idea how to go forward from here?

The tar.gz files are form here (public data): ftp://ted.europa.eu/daily-packages/2018/06/

Hi @Anonymous,

Here are some similar threads for your reference:

Decompress and load multiple .gz files from multiple folders

Binary.Decompress() and zip files

Re: Trouble with tar.gz files

Hi @v-yulgu-msft,

Thanks for the links!

I went through the references but the trouble is there isn't any information on how to work with a tar archive. I am successful in decompressing the gzip but then I'm left scratching my head with the tar archive.

Is there any way to work with tar archives in Power Query?

Regards,

Tuomas
