This query is too complicated to run

Dear all,

I am trying to use the "split column" function in the Query Editor.

Whenever I run the following code, I get an error.

Code:

= Table.SplitColumn(TableName, "ColumnName", Splitter.SplitTextByDelimiter("_", QuoteStyle.Csv), {"ColumnName.1", "ColumnName.2"})

Error Message:
Unexpected error: This query is too complicated to run.

Source:
Google BigQuery

Has anyone experienced this error? I have replicated it with a 500 row table as well.

Best,

Steffen

@Anonymous,

I can not reproduce the issue. You may try to use Text functions to add custom columns.

Hi @v-chuncz-msft,

Thanks for your input.

I think the issue is related to the link between Power BI and BigQuery - I have not experienced this error before on any other data sources.

However, your suggestion of using text functions instead, was exactly what I needed. By using Text.BetweenDelimiters I was able to extract exactly those parts of the text string I needed.

Thank you for the help - I appreciate that.

Best,

Steffen
