The Gateway Operation has been canceled explicitly by the user or timeout

Help! I just started getting this error when trying to refresh my data. I am using the on premises personal gateway!

If I manually refresh in PBI desktop, it works fine.

Hi @sshweky,

A lot of issues can surface when the gateway version is out of date. Please update yor personal gateway to latest version to see whether issue persists.

Someone has submitted this issue related to gateway here.

If issue always exists, please capture fiddler trace and create a support ticket.

By the way, do mask sensitive data before uploading any detailed information, including domain, server name, etc.

Best regards,
Yuliana Gu

@v-yulgu-msft,

Have we had any progress on this front yet?  I'm still experiencing the issue.  I see we have a couple of tickets floating around regarding this.  Thanks!

Regards,

Derek

Any update to this issue?  I am still having the problem with a few datasets.  It is intermittent except in the mornings, when it is virtually always happening.  I can refresh the data just fine from within Power BI desktop and republish the report, but the dataset continues to fail.  The error I get is "The gateway operation has been canceled explicitly by the user or from a timeout."  This affects scheduled refreshes, but also sometimes affects manual refreshes.  I tried adjusting the timeout on my report to 300 minutes (and it doesn't take anywhere near that long to refresh) but that didn't alleviate the issue.

We updated our gateway within the past month.  Is there a new gateway out that I should download?  I'm seeing these errors happen across various datasets, but there is at least one or two datasets that always fail during the mornings.

Thanks.

This is in the "Desktop" portion of the forum.  I will create a new post in "Service", especially since this is not my thread.  Thanks.

I'm getting the exact same error even though I just recently updated my data gateway on the server.  This has been recurring every day for one of my datasets using an enterprise gateway (not personal).  Other datasets are fine.  The error message only says it has been cancelled explicitly by the user or timeout.  I've only been able to get past this by using on-demand refreshes or waiting until late in the evening for one of the scheduled refreshes.  Please advise.

Regards,

Derek
