I have a text filter, which is linked to a unique identifier column in my table.
If I use the text filter, then clear, then change my back end data, then text filter again, it doesn't refresh the data, instead I am still shown the old data.
Is this correct or incorrect behaviour (I ask because of comment 4 on this post https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Refresh-single-table-with-button-on-page/m-p/480647#M223725)
Is there any way I can get it to refresh each time I text filter?
Hi @CookieMonster,
Based on my test using both versions: 2.61.5192.321 64-bit (August 2018) and 2.60.5169.4101 64-bit (July 2018) . I cannot reproduce the issue the same as yours. Could you please tell me what is your version of desktop and update your desktop to the latest version and try again?
Regards,
Frank

Once you have searched for 'a', click clear button on text filter, change back end data so that a = 9999, then search for a again, direct query does not fetch the updated values from the back end data source.
Does this make sense?
Hi @CookieMonster,
For direct query, you should also refresh the data manually to see the latest data. Actually it is not real time data, All DirectQuery requests are sent to the source database, so the time required to refresh a visual is dependent on how long that back-end source takes to respond.

Hi @CookieMonster,
Does that make sense? If so, kindly mark my answer as a solution to close the case please.

Not really, I thought the point of Direct Query, was that if you change something on the page, it would re-run the query, so you were always looking at the latest results
