Tabular Data Model not grouped into tables?

Hi All,

Have recently connected to a Tabular data source hosted in our on prem ssas server.  I've noticed when you pull a tabular dataset into excel or tableau it groups the columns into the individual tables that created the model but when I pull it into power bi i get a full list of the columns with the table name used as the prefix i.e. table1.colum1, table1.column2, ect.  This is quite teaduous as we have lots of columns.  I've also noticed that Power BI does not do this when you pull in a multidimentisonal cube from SSAS, it organises it into the tables that generated the cube.  Is there anyway to display tabula datasets like this?

Hi @JamesWillcox,

When you use “import” mode to connect to SSAS database in Power BI Desktop, you will get a full list of the columns with the table name used as the prefix.

You can use “Connect Live” mode to connect to SSAS database instead, this way, you will get the dataset as follows in Power BI Desktop, which is same as that in Excel.
