Table total shows different value when showing values only in the future

I have a measure where I added the following line to show only the values in the future:

RETURN IF(MAX(Calender[Date]) > NOW(), _value, BLANK())

However, when I visuzalize it in a table, the total adds up the values for the whole period. I dont understand why. Could someone explain and/or propose a solution?
