I am trying to figure out a way to retain a historic count of the number of items in one of my tables. Is it possible to somehow have PowerBI generate historic data on the sum of a variable over time based on udpates?
Example main table might be something like when the data pulls on 3/1
Name | Visits |
Joe | 2 |
Mary | 1 |
Jane | 7 |

Name | Visits |
Joe | 3 |
Mary | 5 |
Jane | 7 |
Frank | 2 |
What I'm hoping to do is generate a table that has data like the following, where the date value is the date/time of the data refresh and the total is the sum of the visits column from a data table from an external source.
Date | Total |
3/1 | 10 |
3/31 | 17 |
Is that possible to do?
That is not something Power BI can (or should) do. Implement your snapshots further upstream.
