Synchronisation error after renaming column in source file

Hi,

i've created a dashboard in Power BI Desktop, the data source of it is an Excel spreadsheet.
Due to a wrong named column I just had to rename this column (e.g. from 'cars' to 'vehicles') in the Excel spreadsheet and just wanted to synchronize the dashboard in Power BI again, when I get an expression error, which says, that the column 'cars' can not be found.

Is there any way to change the column name of my in Power BI imported data, so that it finds the renamed column again?
Or do i really have to create a whole new dashboard because of this?

I would be very grateful about an answer.

Kind regards

Exact resolution is going to depend on your query but you will not have to recreate your report. Go into Query Editor. Go to Advanced Editor. Copy the text and paste into Notepad. Search for cars. Replace. Copy back to Advanced Editor. Save.

thanks @Greg_Deckler  I know its a few years old but this just helped me.

I have the same problem but I couldnt follow your guideliine. My steps was

1. Rename column header in Excel then Save&Close file

2. Refresh power Bi

3. I got yellow box error "Expression.Error: The column 'Previous Column Header Name' of the table wasn't found.

    Details: Previous Column Header Name

Could you please tell me where to start your step? I tried to open Advanced Editor after I got error and find for "Previous Column Header Name" but nothing found.

Thank you.
