Switching reports to live connection

So I need to change  a few reports from import to live connection. They are slightly heavy with 20 pages and multiple visualization per page. The live connection will be to a dataflow thats gets incrementally refreshed every 30min.

How difficult is it usually?

Hi, @PowerBITestingG

Currently, you can not keep your report going from Import to DirectQuery.

You may need to start from scratch.

Hey @PowerBITestingG ,

there is not button to change it. I personally would load the dataflows to the Power Query file and then copy the M-Code and replace the old approach with the dataflow query.

Like this all tables will remain and the report will stay the same.

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍

When I try to change the source from Import to DirectQuery it tells me that it creates a non supported step, even on a new file

Can I keep my report going from Import to DirectQuery or do I have to start from scratch?
